Byrne Ruled Out of Tour

His loss only compounds difficulties for the Lions. Byrne has been superb all tour and is one of the world's best fullbacks, and while Rob Kearney has been playing well the Lions could have done with the boost of Byrne's return from injury. Due to the late stage of the tour, the Lions management have confirmed that they won't call for a replacement at this stage.
Lee Byrne said,"I am very disappointed that I got injured in training today and that my tour is over. I was recovering from my foot injury and was taking part in training when I hurt my thumb in a freak accident."
"To be ruled out of the tour at this stage with just two matches left is devastating. Returning home immediately is the right thing to do as it means I can get the right medical treatment straight away. I wish the boys all the best for the rest of the tour."
We wish Lee all the best with his recovery and hope that he might still be on the scene in 2013.
